Fourth of July Events

The 30th Annual Waterford Lion’s 4th of July Parade and Festivities will take place on Saturday, July 4th. This year we will be honoring Ray Seidel as the Grand Marshall in the parade. Ray has served the Waterford Community his whole life, either as our milk man, village trustee, village president, or Lion. Ray has always had the best interest of the Waterford Community on his mind and in his actions. Ray was instrumental in getting several improvements to our community started: the municipal building/library, the fire house on the east side of the river, a new well and pumping station and the community building at Whitford Park. This June the Village Board voted to name the community building at Whitford Park the Ray Seidel Community Building. Look for Ray in the parade and give him a big Thank You.

The fun starts with the 5K race at 8:00 am. The race starts at Whitford Park and winds its way through Waterford. You can register starting at 7 am.

Kids Bike Parade-10:30 am You can sign up ahead of time at Uncle Harry’s. Sign in and line up are in the parking lot at the corner of Main and 3rd St. This is for kids through 6th grade. They must be accompanied by an adult.

The Grand Parade steps off at 11 am. This year’s parade theme, God Bless America, The Land We Love, was submitted by 6th grader Jana Krein of St Thomas School. Look for her in the parade. If you want to be a part of the parade you can get a registration form from Carr’s Floral or by calling 534-4055. The parade lines up on Aber and 7th Streets. If you are viewing the parade the route is from 7th and Main, heads west down Main St. and turns South onto 1st St. The parade ends at Whitford Park.

A Patriotic Concert  follows the parade at Ten Club Park. This concert is preformed by the Burlington Kiwanis Civic Band. It starts as soon as the parade is over and lasts until the Ducks are released into the river. We can not give an exact time that the concert starts. It all hinges on how long the parade is.

Come buy a Duck Pin. You could win $500 as the top prize in the Great Duck Race. The money raised from the sale of Duck Pins is what supports the parade. The Waterford Lions Club hopes to sell 4000 pins to help off set the price of putting on the parade. When all information is assembled, the ducks will be released. The best viewing is from Ten Club Park. This year we have 2 races. The first race will be the Corporate Duck Race. All Businesses who placed a poster ad get a duck in the race with a chance to win $100. After the ducks are caught, we will stand under the Main St Bridge and dump the 4000 ducks. Come cheer  yours on!
