WATER & SEWER UTILITY BILLS ARE
The Village of Waterford is giving the
water & sewer utility bills a brand new look, no more postcard billings. The
bills will now be printed on 8 ˝ x 11 paper that are folded and secured within
an envelope and addressed directly to the customer. We hope to implement this new process with the
next billing cycle in March 2014.
Wisconsin recently enacted Act 25
and Act 47 requiring municipalities to ensure the privacy of utility customer’s
information. The change is expected to
help protect the privacy of the customer and reduce the number of bills that
get lost in the mail. It will also give the Village the ability to provide
inserts with additional information to customers. The new format will not
change account numbers, due dates or how the bill is calculated, only the look
of the bill. Any questions may be directed to Stephanie Charapata, Deputy Treasurer/DPW Utility Clerk at 262-534-3980. ext. 229.

SHORTAGES IMPACT VILLAGE OF WATERFORD
harsh winter of snow and cold has created challenges for road crews and
municipal budgets as well as Wisconsin drivers.
The Village of Waterford is
feeling the pinch. Snow plows have been running almost daily to clear roads of
snow and spread salt on icy streets.
many municipalities that have run through stores of salt, the Village has not
faced a shortage up to this point because
it’s been able to make as-needed
purchases from Racine County. That has changed. Because the county has not
received its salt shipment,
the resulting shortage has led the county to
restrict the Village to one salt load per snowfall until further notice. This amounts to
less than one third of the
salt needed to treat all the Village streets and parking lots in a single
address concerns about the safety of Village roads following winter travel
advisories, free sand will be provided to the Village
by the County. In
the past, the Village has not used sand on its roadways because it tends to
clog Village storm sewers and salt has been the
most effective in addressing
slippery and icy streets.
shortage of salt on Village, County, and surrounding community roadways places
more emphasis on drivers
to take extra precautions to drive carefully and slow
down when winter road conditions warrant it.
Over Night Parking
parking restrictions are year round! Park on alternate sides of the street using house numbers to
determine odd/even sides and correspond to odd/even dates (use date after midnight). An overnight parking fine is $20
to $25 if paid more than 5 days after the date of the citation.

Village of Waterford History
Levi Barnes and Samuel Chapman established the area that would later become the Village of Waterford community on January 1, 1836, when they obtained water power rights on the Fox River. A dam was built and later a sawmill and flour mill were added which became the nucleus of Waterford. The Village developed as a result of the milling activities and got its name, "Waterford" because of its location at the shallow area of the Fox River where horse-drawn covered wagons could cross.
The Village would incorporate in 1906 and the first Village President, William Shenkenberg, was elected during the first election on February 20, 1906. The Village has since grown into a community of nearly 5,400 residents, and offers shopping, industry and recreational opportunities.
It is the mission of the Village Board of Trustees to deliver open and accessible governance to the Village of Waterford.
